Learn to Hunt - Duck Hunting Workshop (2 days) - EVENT IS FULL

Learn how to hunt ducks in Oregon from ODFW staff and experienced local duck hunters. ODFW to provide guns, ammunition, waders, blinds, duck calls, and instruction.

THIS EVENT IS FULL

Have you ever considered duck hunting but don’t know where to start? This ODFW workshop is intended for adults who want to learn the duck hunting basics. The fun-filled day encompasses a little bit of classroom training combined with hands-on skill building activities, all while going on an actual hunt. Participants will learn by doing and walk away from the workshop with the skills and knowledge to successfully enter the field and hunt on their own.

In this workshop you will learn how to:

  • Select the right gear
  • Set decoys
  • Use duck calls
  • Identify ducks
  • Safely handle and fire a shotgun in actual hunting situations
  • Field dress and process harvested birds
  • Understand duck behavior and biology
  • And much more

Because participants will be using shotguns during this workshop, we require participants be there for both days of the 2 day workshop. The required shotgun skills training is built into the first day’s agenda. If you have taken one previously with ODFW, you are still required to participate in both days of this workshop as waterfowl hunting information is also covered in the first day. You are responsible for being able to handle and operate shotguns in a safe and efficient manner during the waterfowl workshop, whether bringing your own, or borrowing one of ours.

Prior to attending the workshop, each participant must purchase their hunting license, Migratory Bird HIP validation, resident waterfowl validation and Federal Waterfowl Stamp.

All registrants will receive a confirmation letter, via e-mail, approximately one week prior to the workshop that includes additional information on what to bring for the workshop.
