THIS EVENT IS FULL

Do you have an interest in learning how to hunt small game or want to learn more about hunting small game with hounds? Small game species provide a variety of hunting opportunities throughout the state and are an excellent way to introduce new hunters to hunting.

ODFW partners with Mary's Peak Hound Club to provide participants an exciting opportunity to gain the knowledge and skills necessary for hunting rabbits. You'll learn about clothing/equipment needs, safety, ethics and how to field dress (clean the animal).

Because you will be using shotguns during this workshop, we require participants have taken an ODFW Shotgun Skills Clinic prior to attending. If you have not already taken one of these clinics, there will be two additional opportunities to do so on Jan 12th and 13th. Participants are responsible for being able to handle and operate shotguns in a safe and efficient manner during the small game clinic, whether bringing your own, or borrowing one of ours.

Check-in is at 7:45am. Please note that a Wildlife Area parking permit is required to park at EE Wilson. Parking permits are free with the purchase of any hunting license and can be purchased separately. Please make sure to have the parking permit with you when you get to the Wildlife Area as they are not sold on site.

You will need a valid Oregon hunting license to participate.

All necessary equipment will be provided for your use at the workshop, including firearms, ammunition, orange shooting vests, eye protection, ear protection, beagles and their handlers for the hunt. Please do not bring pets or people not registered for the event.

Please be on the lookout for a confirmation letter with additional information on what to bring for the workshop. This will be sent out via email approx. 5-8 days prior to the workshop.
