THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED
This workshop is designed to assist anglers in learning the essential elements of successful steelhead fishing. Experienced anglers who are members of the Association of Northwest Steelheaders, Salem Chapter and Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife will partner together to bring you this skills workshop.
Instruction will include: how to select the right equipment, angling ethics, vital knots, popular methods/techniques of steelhead fishing. Lunch, equipment and a year long membership to the Association of NW Steeleheaders is included in the price of this workshop.
Please dress for the weather - this workshop will be hosted in an outdoor pavilion. Participants are welcome to use their own gear or ODFW loaner rods and reels for the event. If you bring your own spinning rod, the average Steelhead spinning rod is an 8.5-9 foot with a medium to medium-heavy action. A matching reel would need to hold up to 150-200 yards of up to 15-pound test line.
You can view the NW Steelheaders website at http://salemnwsteelheaders.org/
Participants will be fishing at this event so a fishing license (one day, multi-day, or annual) with a harvest tag and Columbia River Basin Endorsement are necessary for our fishing workshop.
