Youth Pheasant Hunt - Sauvie Island (Portland) - TWO HUNT DAYS
Join us for this special youth only pheasant hunt. This hunt is a great opportunity for new hunters to experience bird hunting for the first time and for more experienced youth to get ready for upcoming hunting season. Youth will have the opportunity to hunt without the competition of adult hunters. At some locations, volunteers with dogs will be available to assist youth hunters.
Hunters age 17 years and younger are eligible to participate while accompanied by an adult 21 years or older, who may not hunt. The supervising adult may not accompany more than one youth hunter.
Sauvie Island Wildlife Area check-in will open at 7:00 am both Saturday and Sunday. Mandatory Safety Briefing at 7:30 am and Hunting begins at 8:00 am. Hunter check-in location is at the Eastside Check Station at intersection of Rentenaar and Reeder Rds. Parking Permit required.
Each youth must have in possession:
A Hunter Education Certificate
Permit for the hunt area (if required)
Hunters 12 years or older must have a valid hunting license with an upland game bird validation
A blaze orange hat, shooting glasses (eye protection) and vest must be worn by all participants, including adults. These items will be provided if you do not have your own.
