Where to hunt big game

Since 1995, the A&H program has raffled off exclusive tags, offering hunters additional opportunity to their controlled and general season tags. All tags allow for hunting with any legal weapon, have extended season dates of Aug. 1 – Nov. 30, and are in addition to controlled and general season tags. 2026 Big Game Raffle Tags

You can purchase raffle entries from December 1, 2025, through 10 a.m. PDT May 26, 2026 online or at any license agent. This year’s Big Game Raffle will occur at the ODFW Salem Headquarters on May 26, 2026. The raffle will start at 2 p.m. PDT where one lucky winner and two alternates will be selected for each hunt. The drawing will be livestreamed on ODFW’s YouTube channel.

What is a seed number?

The seed number relates to the application number you receive when you apply for a tag. The seed number is where the draw begins and it proceeds numerically, eventually circling back through the smaller numbers.
Having an application number close to and slightly bigger than the seed number DOES NOT mean you will be drawing a tag.
The final draw results also take into account preference points, residency, party numbers, etc.

Seed numbers are selected randomly through a process that is witnessed and verified by three volunteers (not ODFW staff).

*Columbian white-tailed deer can be hunted only in areas with authorized seasons and tags (see current Big Game Regulations) All funds raised by Big Game Auction and Raffle tags directly fund big game management, big game research, and habitat and hunter access projects. All auction and raffle tags are in addition to controlled and general season tags. Any weapon legal for that species may be used.

Big Game auction hunts

The Big Game auction hunts are another great way for hunters to get additional tags. Each year, the auction events bring in money that directly funds big game management and research, and habitat and hunter access projects. Each tag allows for hunting with any legal weapon, and extended season dates.
