Recreational Chinook and coho fishing days added for Columbia River

SALEM, Ore. – Fishery managers from Oregon and Washington added recreational salmon fishing days in the mainstem Columbia River during a joint state hearing today.

Anglers can now retain Chinook over the weekend (Sept. 26-27) from the Buoy 10 line upstream to the Highway 395 bridge at Pasco, WA and unmarked coho from the west Puget Island line upstream to the Highway 395 bridge at Pasco, WA beginning this Saturday (Sept. 26) and running through October 15.

Dates, bag limits, and area for the season modifications adopted today follow:

From the Buoy 10 line upstream to the west Puget Island Line,

Dates: Saturday and Sunday Sept. 26 and 27

Daily adult bag limit: Three salmon (Chinook or hatchery coho) but only one may be a Chinook.

West Puget Island line upstream to Highway 395 Bridge in Pasco, WA

Dates: Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 26 and 27

Daily adult bag limit: Two salmon (Chinook or coho) but only one may be a Chinook.

West Puget Island line upstream to Highway 395 Bridge in Pasco, WA

Dates: Monday, Sept. 28 – Wednesday, Sept. 30

Daily adult bag limit: Two coho.

Anglers should note that coho retention, including unmarked coho retention from October 1 – October 15 upstream of west Puget Island, is expected to proceed as planned pre-season. Staff will continue to monitor the fisheries, and additional modifications may occur.
