UPDATE: ODFW closes northern portion of White River Wildlife Area due to the Grasshopper Fire

UPDATE: ODFW has reduced closures within White River Wildlife Area, but some areas remained closed. 

All land within a level 3 GO NOW evacuation perimeter will remain closed. As evacuation levels are downgraded, access will increase. Please refer to the evacuation perimeter map before accessing the wildlife area.

ODFW closes northern portion of White River Wildlife Area due to the Grasshopper Fire

TYGH VALLEY, Ore. –ODFW has closed the northern portion of White River Wildlife Area, including lands north of Rock Creek Road (FS Road 48), due to the advancing Grasshopper Fire, which has grown to an estimated 18,136 acres as of Wednesday morning.

The closure is necessary to protect public safety and ensure unobstructed wildfire‑suppression operations as crews continue holding critical containment lines near Pine Hollow and Sportsman's Park and areas adjacent to the wildlife area.

Southern portions of the wildlife area remain open, but visitors are encouraged to avoid all areas near the fire and to not impede firefighting resources.
