CHARLESTON, Ore. – With incredible waterfowl hunting opportunities in Southern Oregon, ODFW is offering a waterfowl hunting workshop Dec. 5-6 in Coos County for beginner hunters or those who want to sharpen their skills.

While the first workshop day (Dec. 5) is held in the Myrtle Point Sportsmen's Club classroom, the interactive class will hold participants' attention.

Attendees will learn how to find prime waterfowl hunting areas and how to develop calling techniques to bring birds within range. They will leave understanding the waterfowl hunting seasons and regulations and what essential gear is needed. The day ends with practice of shooting techniques specific to duck hunting.

On Dec. 6, attendees will head to Coquille Valley Wildlife Area for a mentored duck hunt, putting everything learned the day before into action.

This $50 workshop will open the gates to waterfowl hunting opportunities across the state. Participants walk away outfitted with the skills and confidence to pursue ducks, geese and other huntable waterfowl.
