CENTRAL POINT, Ore. – Learn how to spot and identify animal tracks, splash around in a stream to check out aquatic bugs, and play "survival of the fish-est." Join the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife, Jackson County Parks, and Rogue River Watershed Council for Wildlife Wisdom every Saturday from July 18 to Aug. 15.
The interpretive series is free to all, although park locations have small day-use parking fees (unless you have the Jackson County Parks Pass.) All events run 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
July 18, Cantrall Buckley County Park: Wiggly Water Explorers. Splash around with us to look for and collect water bugs. You'll learn to identify the bug and the role they play in streams and rivers. Bring your own water shoes if you have them.
July 25, Joseph Stewart State Recreation Area: Totally Turtles. See turtles up close and stay for some turtle-y awesome activities.
Aug. 1, Joseph Stewart State Recreation Area: Pelts, Skulls, & Tracks. You'll learn how to identify animal tracks, skulls, and pelts. You'll be able to feel the pelts too.
Aug. 8, Joseph Stewart State Recreation Area: Wolf Telemetry & Tracks. Wildlife and technology go hand-in-hand when it comes to tracking wolves. And you'll be able to see the equipment in action.
Aug. 15, Joseph Stewart State Recreation Area: Survival of the Fishest. Do you have what it takes to survive the obstacles salmon face on their journey? Test your resilience with us while learning first-hand about salmon biology.
