SALEM, Ore.—ODFW is seeking to fill three vacant positions on the Salmon and Trout Advisory Committee (STAC). One position will represent the Mid-Coast District, the second will represent the Upper Rogue District, and the third will represent the Umpqua District.

Interested individuals are encouraged to apply by 5:00 p.m. on June 15, 2026. For application materials, visit the ODFW STEP webpage and use the "Click here to apply" link. https://www.dfw.state.or.us/fish/step/STAC.asp

ODFW is seeking Oregonians that can represent the public and partner organizations involved with the Salmon & Trout Enhancement Program (STEP) for these positions. Desired applicants for each position should have experience working with volunteers, community service organizations, or involvement in natural resources or angling education. Ideally, candidates should have knowledge of the issues and activities performed by STEP biologists, volunteers, and partner organizations within their territory. ODFW provides many opportunities for all Oregonians to be engaged with STEP and is looking for ways to further expand our community outreach. Candidates that can connect with or represent young adults, women, families, or underrepresented populations are strongly encouraged to apply.

Candidates for these positions must reside within the district which they are applying for.

  • The Mid-Coast district encompasses a territory from the Salmon River south to Tahkenitch Lake, and includes but is not limited to the towns of Lincoln City, Siletz, Newport, Waldport, Yachats and Dunes City.
  • The Upper Rogue District encompasses a territory that includes the portions of the Rogue River upstream of Mule Creek to the headwaters of Crater Lake and includes but is not limited to the towns of Grants Pass, Cave Junction, Jacksonville, Medford, Ashland and Shady Cove.
  • The Umpqua District encompasses the entire Umpqua River basin and includes but is not limited to the towns of Winchester Bay, Reedsport, Elkton, Sutherlin, Roseburg, Myrtle Creek, and Canyonville.

The nine members of the Salmon & Trout Advisory Committee are appointed by the Governor and represent all regions of Oregon. The committee meets two times per year in various communities throughout the state to conduct STEP business and advise ODFW and the Fish and Wildlife Commission on issues regarding STEP. Committee members are volunteers; however, business-related expenses may be reimbursed.
