The Least flycatcher closely resembles the Hammond's flycatcher, but its distinctive voice and choice of habitat help to identify calling birds.

The majority of sightings are from east of the Cascades especially in Harney County. The fall movement ranges from early August to late September with sightings reported from both eastern and western Oregon.
