Learn to Fish

Ocean surfperch Level 2 Workshop

This Level 2 workshop is designed for Surfperch anglers with some experience and their own gear. If you've struggled to catch much, are prepared to face challenging surf and weather conditions, and can walk 2-5 miles in 2 hours while carrying all your gear, then this workshop is for you!

You'll be fishing alongside a local perch expert who frequently fishes the beach you'll be visiting. They will show you their favorite spots and offer tips on how to fish the area. It's a unique opportunity to learn from someone who knows the beach inside and out.

The workshop will focus on staying safe while fishing in challenging, wet, and windy ocean conditions. You'll also learn how to read beach structures and waves, and how to keep moving in search of a catch. Some of the beaches we visit may not have restroom facilities, so we recommend planning for alternative solutions.

Please note that ocean conditions can be unpredictable, with sneaker waves being more common in these seasons. As a result, workshops may be canceled for safety reasons at any time. We will not be able to confirm if the workshop will take place until about a week before when we can assess the forecasted ocean conditions, so please consider this when making travel arrangements or submitting deposits. Your safety is always our top priority.
