The following regulations reflect changes or additions to the permanent regulations listed in the 2026 Oregon Sport Fishing Regulations. All other permanent regulations remain in effect. Please see e-regulations.

Effective January 12, 2026:

  • Coquille River (mainstem), Coquille River Middle Fork, Coquille River North Fork, and Coquille River South Fork to USFS boundary near Powers: use of bait allowed year round.

Effective February 1, 2026:

  • Mainstem Umpqua River: Retention of all wild Chinook is prohibited.
  • North Umpqua River: Harvest of wild Chinook is restricted to one wild adult Chinook per day and ten wild adults per season from February 1 through June 30, 2026.

Effective May 12 through November 7:

  • Lemolo Reservoir and Hemlock Lake: The daily limit of kokanee is 10 per day with no size limit

Willamette Zone

Effective June 3, 2026 through July 31, 2026:

  • Willamette River: Anglers with the two rod validation may use two rods in the following areas from June 3-July 31, 2026:
    • Area: Lower Willamette River downstream of Willamette Falls (including Multnomah Channel), the Clackamas River downstream of the Highway 99 Bridge, and the Willamette River (including tributaries and other flowing waters) upstream of Willamette Falls
    • Species: Applies to all game and non-game fish (except sturgeon) when angling is open to hatchery Chinook, hatchery steelhead, trout, or warmwater game fish

Central Zone

Effective June 16, 2026 through July 14, 2026:

  • The daily adult salmon and steelhead bag limit may not include more than one hatchery steelhead in these locations:
    • Eagle Creek: That portion of Eagle Creek (Central Zone) from the angling deadline in Eagle Creek (200 feet downstream of hatchery fishway entrance) downstream to the mouth at the mainline railroad bridge.
    • Deschutes River: The lower Deschutes River from markers at the lower end of Moody Rapids downstream to the mouth at the Interstate 84 Bridge.

Effective July 15, 2026 through September 15, 2026:

  • Closed to angling in the following locations:
    • Eagle Creek. That portion of Eagle Creek (Central Zone) from the angling deadline in Eagle Creek (200 feet downstream of hatchery fishway entrance) downstream to the mouth at the mainline railroad bridge.
    • Deschutes River: The lower Deschutes River from markers at the lower end of Moody Rapids downstream to the mouth at the Interstate 84 Bridge.

Southeast Zone

Effective June 1, 2026, through September 30, 2026

  • Thief Reservoir, Wolf Creek Reservoir, and Pilcher Creek Reservoir
    • No minimum or maximum size limits,
    • No daily or possession limits for rainbow trout and bass,
    • Harvest will be allowed by hand, dip net, or angling and,
    • A person with a valid Two-Rod Validation may use any number of rods.

Effective June 15, 2026 through October 31, 2026

  • Crystal Creek, Fourmile Creek, Fourmile Canal, Harriman Creek, Klamath Lake, Odessa Creek, Recreation Creek, Short Creek, and Thomason Creek:
    • Catch-and-release for rainbow trout June 15 through October 31 and,
    • Flies and artificial lures only for all species June 15 through October 31
    • All other permanent rules for Southeast Zone, as stated in the current Oregon Sport Fishing Regulations, remain in effect

Northeast Zone

Effective June 16, 2026 through August 31, 2026:

  • The daily adult salmon and steelhead bag limit may not include more than one hatchery steelhead in the following locations:
    • John Day River: from the mainline railroad bridge at the mouth upstream to a marker one-quarter mile below Tumwater Falls.

Effective May 30, 2026 through June 30, 2026:

  • Umatilla River
    • Area from the Hwy 730 bridge near the mouth of the Umatilla River upstream to the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation (CTUIR) reservation boundary, and from the upper border of the reservation to the Umatilla headwaters, including all tributaries, is closed to the angling for and retention of spring Chinook salmon.

  • Area & Dates: From the mouth of Lookingglass Creek, a tributary to the Grande Ronde River at Palmer Junction, upstream to the confluence of Jarboe Creek from May 15 through June 14, 2026 or until harvest and handling quotas are met.
  • Bag Limit: two (2) adipose fin-clipped Chinook salmon adults and five (5) adipose fin-clipped jacks per day. (Jack salmon are less than 24 inches in length).
  • ALL UNMARKED (WILD) CHINOOK SALMON AND BULL TROUT MUST BE RELEASED CAREFULLY AND UNHARMED. 
  • It is unlawful to continue fishing for jack Chinook once the adult bag limit is met.

All other permanent rules apply as found in the 2026 Oregon Sport Fishing Regulations.

Effective June 4 through August 17:

  • Effective June 4 ,2026 through August 17, 2026, closed for Chinook salmon from the Dug Bar Boat Ramp upstream to Hells Canyon Dam.
  • All other permanent rules for the Snake River Zone, as stated in the current annual Oregon Sport Fishing Regulations, remain in effect

Regulation updates as of June 18, 2026.‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌

The following regulations reflect changes or additions to the permanent regulations listed in the current Oregon Sport Fishing Regulations. All other permanent regulations remain in effect. Please see e-regulations.‌‌

Columbia River

Salmon and steelhead

Summer Season (June 16 – July 31)

Astoria-Megler Bridge upstream to the Oregon/Washington border (upstream of McNary Dam)

  • Retention of adult Chinook prohibited.
  • Retention of hatchery steelhead and hatchery jack Chinook allowed.
  • Retention of sockeye allowed June 27 – July 5.
    • All sockeye are considered adults in the daily limit and must be recorded as adults on the combined angling tag.
  • Continuing to angle for jack salmon is prohibited after taking the combined daily adult bag limit of salmon and/or steelhead.
  • When open to sockeye retention, the daily adult bag limit is two salmon/steelhead, but only one may be a hatchery steelhead.
  • When sockeye retention is closed, the daily adult bag limit is one hatchery steelhead.
  • Tanner Creek from the mouth upstream to the mainline railroad bridge is closed to angling from June 16 – July 15.
  • The Columbia River at the mouth of Tanner Creek is closed to angling between the markers 150 feet above and 450 feet below the mouth of Tanner Creek out to the center of the Columbia River from June 16 - July 15.

Sturgeon

See 2026 Oregon Sport Fishing Regulations for sanctuary closure areas. All other permanent rules apply. Please see e-regulations.

Columbia River Mainstem and Reservoirs, Buoy 10 to McNary Dam‌

  • The retention of sturgeon is closed. Catch-and-release fishing is allowed except in the sanctuary closure areas during May 1 - August 31.

What Can I Keep and How Many?

Reminders

Yelloweye and quillback rockfish are prohibited at all times and in all waters.

Every vessel fishing for or possessing bottomfish, Pacific halibut, or flatfish in the ocean must have a functional descending device on board, regardless of depth. The device must be used to release any rockfish outside of 30 fathoms.
