Mentored Youth Hunter Program allows youth 9 through 15 years of age to hunt without first passing an approved hunter safety education program. It gives unlicensed youngsters an unlimited opportunity to receive mentored, one-on-one field experience and training on the ethics, safety, responsibility and enjoyment of hunting while closely supervised by a licensed adult who is 21 years of age or older and who has a valid license and tag(s) for the dates, area and species being hunted. Many of the more popular fishing locations across the state are accessible to anglers with disabilities. ODFW tries to keep the information on this map current but it's always best to check with the waterbody manager for the latest information before going fishing. ‌

Major improvements are now complete at Yellowjacket Lake, about 30 miles northwest of Burns. The upgrades include a new fishing dock and kayak launch, both accessible to people with disabilities.

Oregon Fish and Wildlife Commission

ODFW completed the revision of the SWAP in Sept. 2025 and submitted it to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for approval. The updated SWAP will guide conservation priorities statewide and supports continued eligibility for federal wildlife funding.
