NW Fishing Dec. 4, 2025 Best bets for weekend fishing Winter steelhead are starting to show up in the North Fork Nehalem, Necanicum River, and Lower Columbia tributaries. These streams get early returning hatchery steelhead and will provide the best opportunity for catching winter steelhead in early December. Hatchery coho are still coming in on the Trask River and North Fork Nehalem River. Many fish are getting past prime, but there are still some in good condition available and will be throughout the month of December. (There is no retention of wild coho allowed.) NE Fishing December 4, 2025 Best bets for weekend fishing Trout and whitefish fishing should be good throughout the fall on the Wallowa River. Steelhead fishing has been good on the Grande Ronde and Imnaha Rivers Steelhead fishing is good on the Umatilla River. Trout can still be found on Willow Creek Reservoir. SNAKE FISHING December 4, 2025 Best bets for weekend fishing Steelhead and trout can be caught downstream of Hells Canyon Dam. Trout fishing will be best throughout the winter in the Hells Canyon Reservoirs Announcements Fishing for Chinook salmon below Hells Canyon Dam closed on November 1. Updates by section BROWNLEE RESERVOIR: Crappie, bass, perch, catfish, carp As the water temperatures start to cool, fishing for catfish will likely slow. However, perch will still be available. Trout fishing will also improve as the weather cools. Brownlee Reservoir levels can fluctuate greatly affecting which boat ramps are usable. Follow the links

Announcements Chinese mitten crab found in Willamette River A second confirmed Chinese mitten crab, a prohibited species in Oregon, was found and reported to ODFW on November 17 in the Willamette River near Sellwood Bridge. Oregon supports diverse waterfowl populations, from sea ducks in coastal saltwater to puddle ducks in the alkali basins of southeast Oregon. You might think you need lots of gear (decoys, boats, a trained dog) to hunt ducks and geese, but you don’t. All of these things are nice but not necessary.
