The Klamath Fish Hatchery was originally constructed in 1929. Many improvements have been made since original construction. The hatchery produces legal and trophy sized rainbow trout, fingerling rainbow trout, brown trout, and cutthroat trout for release throughout the Klamath Basin, Deschutes Basin, Umpqua Basin and the southeast part of the state. The hatchery assist with remote egg takes for wild rainbow and brown trout at Crane Prairie and Wickiup Reservoirs.
The Landowner Preference Program (LOP) was established to acknowledge the contribution of private lands to support wildlife and provide a form of compensation to landowners for resources used by wildlife. Tags are available to landowners, family members, and others designated by the landowner based on the acreage owned. Pronghorn hunts are only available to landowners and family members. Willamette Fishing May 7, 2026 Best bets for weekend fishing: Spring Chinook fishing was most productive this week below the St Johns bridge and in the Multnomah Channel. Several waterbodies will be stocked with trout this week. Trout stocking Drought conditions are already impacting Oregon waterways. The Trout Stocking Schedule is subject to change.
