May 1, 2025 Best bets for weekend fishing Despite high, muddy conditions, anglers on the lower Rogue are picking up a few Chinook and steelhead every day. Take your boots. Warmwater fishing should start picking up on Emigrant Reservoir – check out the flooded willows in the draw-down zones for bass. Applegate and Lost Creek reservoirs have been stocked with legal and trophy sized trout, and larger holdover trout are available. The first Spring Chinook have been caught in the upper Rogue River. May 1, 2025 Best bets for weekend fishing Anglers report excellent spring kokanee fishing at Lake Billy Chinook, Odell Lake, and Wickiup Reservoir. Fish at Lake Billy Chinook and Odell Lake are averaging 13 inches; while 14–17-inch fish can be found at Wickiup. Anglers reported fair tout fishing at Wickiup and Crane Prairie reservoirs on the Aprill 22 season opener and should improve over the next few weeks as water temperatures rise. With most year-round stream fisheries affected by spring runoff and poor water clarity, the spring-fed Fall and Metolius Rivers are good bets for consistent fishing opportunities. The Fall
