There's still a few weeks of decent steelhead fishing to be had on the North Coast and pressure is much lighter than earlier in the season. The Nestucca, Wilson and North Fork Nehalem rivers will still offer the best opportunities for catching hatchery steelhead. Many tributaries and upper river sections closed to steelhead angling March 31, so be sure to check the regulations before heading out in April. Trout stocking Stocked the week of March 31- April 4: Timber Linn Lake, Cottage Grove Res, Turner Lake, Henry Hagg Lake, Foster Reservoir, Dexter Res, Commonwealth Lake, Junction City Pond, Row River Nature Park, Green Peter Res, Huddleston Pond, Hills Creek Res, Waverly Lake, Sheridan Pond, Blue River Res, Walter Wirth Lake, Trojan Recreation Lake. The Canada lynx is only slightly larger than the bobcat. Nevertheless, long legs and long fur produce the illusion that the lynx is considerably larger than it actually is. Documented accounts of wild lynx are rare and lynx are not expected to currently reside in Oregon. However, if lynx were to be observed, it is likely to occur at higher elevations such as in the Cascade Range, Blue Mountains or Wallowa Mountains. Habitats used by lynx often are defined in terms of habitats used by their primary prey species, thus good snowshoe hare habitat usually is considered to be good

April 10, 2025 Best bets for weekend fishing Kokanee fishing continues to be excellent on Lake Billy Chinook with fish averaging 13 inches; however, with spring run-off occurring water clarity is reduced in the Crooked and Deschutes River Arms making for challenging conditions With most year-round stream fisheries affected by spring runoff and poor water clarity, the spring-fed Fall and Metolius Rivers are good bets for consistent fishing opportunities. The Fall River will receive its first trout stocking of the year the week of April 7 th. At Haystack Reservoir anglers report good fishing for both trophy-size excess brood hatchery

April 10, 2025 Best bets for weekend fishing Despite high, muddy conditions, anglers on the lower Rogue are picking up a few Chinook and steelhead every day. Take your boots. Warmwater fishing should start picking up on Emigrant Reservoir – check out the flooded willows in the draw-down zones for bass. Lost Creek Reservoir was stocked with 20,000 legal trout three weeks ago. The first Chinook have been caught in the mainstem Umpqua.
